چکیده

Capillaria hepatica is a nematode with worldwide distribution, which can cause parasitic hepatitis both in animals and humans. A mouse (Apodemus flavicollis), trapped in Giresun Province was diagnosed as having capillariasis due to the characteristic eggs found in its liver. This is the first reported case of mouse capillariasis in this part of the country. Due to the fact that capillariasis is a zoonotic disease, humans might be also infested; therefore, further investigations are needed.

Dobrava-Belgrade Virus in Apodemus flavicollis and A. uralensis Mice, Turkey

In 2009, human Dobrava-Belgrade virus (DOBV) infections were reported on the Black Sea coast of Turkey. Serologic and molecular studies of potential rodent reservoirs demonstrated DOBV infections in Apodemus flavicollis and A. uralensis mice. Phylogenetic analysis of DOBV strains showed their similarity to A. flavicollis mice-borne DOBV in Greece, Slovenia, and Slovakia.

Isolation of Dobrava virus from Apodemus flavicollis in Greece.

Dobrava virus (DOBV) carried by Apodemus flavicollis is the causative agent of severe hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS). DOBV was isolated from an A. flavicollis mouse trapped in northeastern Greece. This is the third DOBV cell culture isolate in the world, clustering together with other Greek DOBV sequences from HFRS patients and rodents.

Until now, Demodex rosus has been only recorded in the Czech Republic; however, as many as 81 specimens of this species have been observed in 7 yellow-necked field mice collected from Gdansk Pomerania, Poland (prevalence 35%, mean intensity 11.6). This is the first observation of that species in Poland. In Polish fauna, Apodemus flavicollis proved to be a new host of mites belonging to Demodeci...
